The Internet of Things (IoT) is the physical devices around the world that are now connecting to the internet which is collecting and sharing data. By collecting all kinds of big data through the network can better provide favorable information for the development of the Internet of Things. These days, because the development of technology we have it’s possible to connect everything to the internet which have caused us life to be more convenient and easier. The total installed base of Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices is projected to amount to 75.44 billion worldwide by 2025, a fivefold increase in ten years.

Increasingly, organizations in a variety of industries are using IoT to operate more efficiently, better understand customers to deliver enhanced customer service, improve decision-making and increase the value of the business. In the consumer segment, for example, smart homes that are equipped with smart thermostats, smart appliances and connected heating, lighting and electronic devices can be controlled remotely via computers, smartphones or other mobile devices. IoT let the information interfaces will advance, especially voice and touch commands, people can order smart assistants to control their phones, watches, and smart furniture. The big data will also increases the relevance of product to customers.

However, behind any smart assistants and big data, people’s privacy issues have always been a serious issue. Connecting devices often ask users to input their personal information, including names, ages, addresses, phone numbers and even social media accounts, these information that’s invaluable to hackers.

So, I want to talk about is the Robot Vacuum Cleaner. It’s a smart home robot which has both the function of mopping and sweeping, and can connect to the mobile app to set its route. It ‘s a very convenient tool, and it collects data on each run and set routes to avoid obstacles. With intelligent return charging, we don’t need to carry or find it, and we can locate it by APP and to return it to its original position. In fact, I have one in my family. Since we have it, we don’t need to decide who to sweep the floor everyday.

The problem is for the existing smart home applications, like audio, refrigerator, or some smart remote control, what do you think of them, and would you glad to get these things for your home?
As for the robot vacuum cleaner you mentioned in your blog, I don’t consider it smart enough right now. I don’t know about you but I’ve seen people with pets complaining about their robot cleaner was not able to identify the dog or cat poop on the ground and mopped it all over the house. That is definitely the situation no one wants to face.

I mentioned in the article that is convenient for ordinary families. At least my relatives like to use them very much, which is convenient for cleaning the bottom of the bed and reducing the amount of housework every day. I have also seen yours examples, but I believe that there will be multi-functional sweeping robots in the future that can be applied to different families.

Hi Tina, I am glad to make a comment on your blog. Based on the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), our life becomes more convenient and easy. As for me, I like smart home applications and purchase them a lot. I can control smart devices through my smartphone at any time. However, I am afraid of my privacy issues. Hackers will steal our personal information and sell it. So it is important for them to solve the safety problem.

Yes, I have considered this issue, but all the emerging things will face some challenges. This is also true when FB and INS are implemented. They have also encountered hackers stealing information. This may require the brand to face these problems and strengthen the security risks.

Hi Tina, we have the same topic for this week’s blog. I’ve really enjoyed the benefits brought by IOT because it saves a lot of time for me to do the housework like the sweeping floor. I also have a rice cooker which is connected to my mobile phone and can be controlled by myself even I was not at home, for example, I can make it work before I back home. But we need to be careful with the personal details which are involved in these IOT things to avoid being stolen by hackers.

Smart furniture is becoming more and more common in our lives. In addition to what we mentioned, including air conditioners, refrigerators, radios, etc., IoT links are implemented. Of course, as you said, we must beware of hackers stealing information, which may require brands to face these problems and strengthen security risks.
